Emotional Content Leads to Sales

Emotional content is everywhere these days, whether it is on a tv ad, the local news or social. The biggest part of emotional responses to that content is found on social media. Everyone has become very opinionated with specific topics and these topics have the most engagement on social media. However, the emotional content I would like you to focus on in this section is in regards to your life and your business.

With that said, here are 3 reasons why you should start using emotional content! 👊

1. They Remember Easier

Have you ever seen a television commercial 15 times in one day and then a month later you see 10 seconds of the commercial and know exactly what it is about? Well the marketing executives that created that ad wanted you to remember that ad. They did it in a way that is annoying. This is not the only way for your audience to remember what you are selling. The other way is to cause an emotional response to the ad. The best example of this is the SPCA commercials where they show you the worse possible conditions that an animal can live in. I turn the channel every time, but I know exactly what they are selling.

The more often you cause the viewer of your content to make an emotional response; happy, sad and etc; the more they will remember you. This is the reason why it takes someone 14-21 times seeing something before they buy it.

2. They Draw a Connection Between Past & Present

Let's say you sell soaps, it is one of the harder items to sell online because your potential customer cannot smell the soap. The smell of the soap is a huge indicator of whether or not they will purchase it. So, if you create a visual link between the smell of soap and what it will do to the client, the easier it will be for the customer to purpose.

Say for example, someone lost their mom a couple years ago and their mom loved lavender scented perfume. They love everything lavender scented because it reminds them of good times with their mother. So, making sure they know that lavender is connected to the soap in terms of happiness and love, that customer may buy the soap just because of the connection with their mother.

3. Human Connections = More Sales

You are not selling to robots, you are selling to humans who have bills and need to budget their money. So you need to convince them to spend their money with you, but how? They need to trust you, they need to understand that your product was made for them (especially those customizable products). When you talk through your content with the explanation of why the products will help them personally, they are more likely to purchase those products.

The best way to make those human connections is to talk to them like they are the only one you are talking to through examples.

Hint: I have done that exact thing in this post.

Keeping learning about your audience and you will make connections without a lot of effort.
